The first batch of DC chargers for the Pakistan Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project were all set to run a few days ago. SSE and Golden Dragon Bus company is collaborating on rollout of the country's first new energy transport system.

“This is the best metro bus project of Pakistan. Being third generation facility, this is a high-level project among metros (in other cities),” Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan said while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the project.

Peshawar BRT project is mainly funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the total expense is up to Rs 70 billion. 220 Golden Dragon hybrid buses and supporting charging infrastructure cover Peshawar’s entire modern transport system, to provide environmental-friendly and comfortable travel services for about 340,000 people every day. The project is expected to reduce 31,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The overall charging solution is offered by SSE.

The chargers put into operation are SSE 100kW and 300kW high-power DC fast chargers. Smart control technologies are adopted to ensure efficient and reliable charging such as intelligent temperature control, autonomous current sharing, and dynamic power distribution, etc. Its two connectors can charge two buses separately, and can also charge one bus simultaneously with ultra fast charging, which can well meet the daily operation needs of electric buses.
