The first electric bus of Canelones, Uruguay with SSE EV charger hits the road

The first electric bus in Canelones was launched On August 7, 2019. The Uruguay's Minister of Energy and Environment, the Minister of National Defense, the Governor of Canelones and the Director of the Municipal Transportation Bureau attended the press conference, attracting lots of local media. The electric bus is manufactured by China's top coach maker Ankai and its supporting charging infrastructure is supplied by SSE, Ankai’s close partner.

 


SSE has been a long-term trusted partner of Ankai Automobile since 2012. In recent years, We have expanded in the overseas markets hand in hand like France, the United Arab Emirates and India, etc. Uruguay is the first South American country to support China's “One Belt, One Road” strategy, and has gradually developed in-depth cooperation with China in the field of new energy, especially new energy vehicles. In March of this year, Marcelo Metedlera, Director of the Transportation Bureau of Canelones, took a delegation from the local bus company to visit the production base of SSE and confirmed the cooperation. Subsequently, SSE 60kW DC charger is exported to Uruguay with Ankai 8.5-meter pure electric bus. 



Recognized as a milestone in the electrification process of Uruguay’s public transport, the electric bus and charger attracted a lot of attention. Mr. Metedlera said zero emission buses and charging infrastructure will be promoted in 30 cities and regions soon for a greener and sustainable future. SSE will definitely support this revolution in Uruguay with quality charging equipments for electric buses, logistics vehicles, forklifts and other transportation areas.

After the conference, Chinese Ambassador in Uruguay Mr. Wang Gang met with Pan Fei, President of SSE. Pan Fei introduced the global layout of EV infrastructure and said that SSE will actively promote its construction in Uruguay. Mr. Wang commented positively about SSE in promoting the development of EVs and the cooperation between China and Uruguay.
